The creator and protector of the whole world, Almighty God cherry-picked our humanity from all other living organisms in a great structure. That's why Almighty God cherry-picked our humanity from all other living organisms in a great structure of culture. In wake of this, there are numerous specialities in human society- he has a goal in his life to progress by living without explosion, trouble and quarrelling. He has to achieve eternal happy heaven after death that is not for the lives of other organisms.
By death his life does not wind up but enters to another level, therefore a well-planned system is very important in his life, that will control him from misleading and going astray from the goal which he has to follow and organise his life according to it.
Then who will prepare this type of system by fixing all accountabilities and plugging all loopholes? Is a human capable of doing it and formulating it? The reality is ‘no’. Indeed he is noble and competent when compared with other creations. But his wisdom thought and knowledge has limits. He cannot think, understand and do anything beyond those boundaries. Today, he doesn’t know what will happen to this world tomorrow. And what will happen to him? He will suffer from much hatred, disgust, and fear that he cannot defend from happening and fearing that he cannot defend from happening and also he never has any insight into it.
Allah, Who watches every nuance of creations, says in a nutshell “Human is created in weak” (4:28). Hence, creating a life scheme including the whole life of humans with his material progress and immaterial peace is beyond the circumstance of human society. For this reason, God, the Magnificent and Merciful He Himself came forward to this programme made by restoring parity.
He appointed umpteen Prophets to this world for preaching and teaching this religion in human society. From them, the last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a veteran leader. The Holy Qur’an started its unveiling when life was only forty-year-old, then He lived thirteen years in Makah and ten years in Medina, where He died and was buried. By these twenty-three years, the presentation of the Qur’an had finished.
The Holy Book includes 114 chapters (Surahs) and 6000-plus verses (Ayahs) with 77439 words and 321180 letters (Thafseerul Kabeer). Yet, Imam Zarkashi recorded by quoting that Imam Abu-Bakr Ahmed Bin Hussain Ibn Yusuf says: Hajaj Ibn Yusuf gathered Quran reciters of Baswara and from them, he selected Hasan-ul-Basari, Abu Aliya, Nasr Bin Aslam, Asimul Jahdari, Malik Ibn Deenar(May God bless them) for calculating the letters of Qur’an. They counted it by four months and at last, they stood in one court of the decision by reporting that the total words included in Qur’an are 7439 and letters are 323015(Al-Burhan, Zarkashi. Volume 1, page 249).
Holy Qur’an includes the Holy Book that is known as Mushaf. Unfortunately, the presentation of the Qur’an was not like the order in Mushaf that we are seeing today. Chapters and verses were unveiled according to some special occasions and needs. The first five verses from the ninety-sixth chapter (surathul alaq) are unveiled in the first and the 281st verse of the second chapter (surathul bazaar) is last. But Mushaf was formulated to current form by the orders of the Prophet, when a chapter or verse was revealed He would say its correct place (ex: under this chapter and upper/down of this verse) very perfectly.
Before the death of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) many Sahabas had remembered full of Qur’an which had written in different things (leaf, stone and bone), then first Caliph Abu-Bakr (R) collected and gathered all of those things and organised it in book model for preparing the first written copy of Holy Qur’an. Abu-Bakr (R) asked for a name for this Book Sahabas by understanding the compulsory of a name for this type of complex work that had gathered from different ways, very adventurously. A man shared his opinion- the name of ‘Injeel’, but the name of Christian’s Holy Book, those who do not accept the Prophet (PBUH), was not digested with anyone. Another Sahabi said a name -Sifr- which means to book, those also are not accepted.
At last famous scholar, Ibn Mas’ud (R)’s opinion was ultimately accepted (Mushaf). Then many written copies of the Qur’an were prepared in the era of the third Caliph Usman Bin Khattab (R) and sent to different Islamic countries. Today there is an uncountable Qur’an in this world, with no house left without a copy of the Qur’an there. It is a universal truth that there is no book which is recited and managed like Holy Qur’an.
This Book is divided into thirty parts (Juz’) for helping the reciters to recite one part daily and complete it in one month. In addition to this, these parts are divided into half; the quarter and chapter are divided into Ruku’. These all are marked and in all Qur’an, those are present in this time by the great services of our ancestral scholars. All chapters and verses unveiled before the Hijra of the Prophet, are called Makkiya (83 chapters) and those unveiled after His Hijra, are called Madaniya (31 chapters).
